Buffalo Crime Family

The Buffalo family is actively involved in the criminal activities related to gambling, extortion, loan sharking, bookmaking, racketeering, drug trafficking, conspiracy, and murder.

Buffalo family is also referred to as The Arm. It powerfully dominated the underworld from 1920s till 1980s. The family is mostly known due to its famous and powerful Don Stefano Magaddino. Media called him The Undertaker.

Stefano Magaddino was Angelo Palmeri's close associate. When the gang's UnderBoss, Joseph Peter DiCarlo, died, Palmeri asked Stefano Magaddino to become the boss and Magaddino accepted it.

In Magaddino's time, the Buffalo family significantly benefited. The family prospered a lot during the Prohibition era. Throughout the 1920s, Buffalo family saw continuing increase in power. In 1968, Magaddino along with his son were arrested. An amount of about 3,134 was found in his son's home, which surprised the other members. As a protest, the family split into two groups - one group was loyal to Magaddino, the other was against him. In 1969, Magaddino was no longer considered a boss. On 19th July 1974, Magaddino died of a heart attack.

Buffalo crime family still operates actively in some areas of New York. However it is gradually collapsing with around 40 made members and about only 80 - 100 associates.
